Chief Executive, Mark Lowry

Mark is originally from County Fermanagh. He was appointed Chief Executive of the Northstone group on 1 January 2010, succeeding Noel Quinn.

Mark graduated from Queen's University, Belfast in 1982 with an honours degree in civil engineering, and, after a brief spell working on the Marble Arch Caves project in Fermanagh, he worked in South Africa on highway design and construction for four years before returning to the UK, where he joined Farrans. His career at Farrans progressed from site engineer to joint Managing Director over the next 23 years. Schemes on which Mark was involved during this time include the Kilroot Power Station oil-coal conversion, the Belfast Cross-Harbour Bridges, the Aquarius Project, the Odyssey, Victoria Square and the Belfast Schools Strategic Partnership. Northstone takes its Corporate Social Responsibilities very seriously and, under Mark's leadership, will continue its policy of respect, treating suppliers fairly and paying on time, working with the community, minimizing waste and harm to the environment, keeping its people safe, training and developing its people and generally leaving a positive legacy wherever the Company is involved.

Mark is the newly appointed President of the Construction Employers Federation (CEF) and is also a past Chairman of the Northern Ireland Region of the Institution of Civil Engineers. He is also a Fellow of the Institution and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building. He sat on the CITB and on the Executive Committee of Constructing Excellence (N. Ireland).
