Tendering Success for Farrans in Scotland

07 July 2010

The Farrans Team in Scotland have continued their rich vein of tendering success with the award of more contracts.

In Montrose, on the east coast of Scotland, an £8m contract has been awarded to renew some 220 metres of collapsed quay wall for the Montrose Port Authority.  The works include underwater demolition of the existing structure and construction of a combi wall solution utilising 30 metre long, 1.5 metre diameter tubular piles.  These heavy weight challenges are being managed on site by Eugene Flaherty and his team.

In the Firth of Forth, Farrans have been appointed to renew and realign an existing sea outfall by Scotland Water.  The works are necessary as the existing outfall lies in the footprint of a new bridge which will be built in the future to cross the estuary.  The 750 metre long outfall wall requires divers to work at depths of up to 30 metres to install the pipework and associated protection.  Mickey Watson and Pat McKiernan are the Farrans people on site looking after the work.
