Succession planning is undertaken on an annual basis to ensure the continuity of key managerial and technical capability across the business.
All employees in each Northstone division are encouraged to develop their core skills and competencies in accordance with the specific demands of their role and the needs of clients and customers. Training is delivered on an ongoing basis by way of experiential learning, internal courses and external providers to recognised industry and professional standards.
The professional and personal development of employees is also encouraged and supported to enhance the knowledge pool within Northstone. This may include further degrees, professional qualifications or attendance at CRH plc senior management training courses. One recent initiative in this area is the Farrans ADVANCE Development Scheme which allows technical staff to achieve membership of a relevant professional body through suitable work experience and mentoring within the context of a structured development programme. The Farrans ADVANCE Scheme is registered with all construction related professional bodies.
